Wei, I'm guessing the answers are as follows: 1. What kind of equipment and/or chemicals are you going to use? Probably a mold test kit, one way or another. Scrape some material off, smear the material onto a plate containing a culture that microorganisms like to grow on, and wait to see what grows. 2. What are the steps? - open kit - take sample - smear sampler in dish - throw away sampler - seal dish - send dish off to lab 3. How do you collect the samples? Probably a Q tip or a scalpel - a small knife. (Dan's probably learning as he goes, the same way I am, and everyone else - he may not have done this before.) 4. How do you analyze the samples? Send them off to a lab - same as us. 5. What will we find out from a mold testing? If it's mold, and what kind it is. Some molds are deadly and are associated with nerve damage. 6. How soon will we find out the results? Probably about two weeks, unless someone coughs up the cash for a rush job. 7. Who will receive the original testing results? Whomever pays for them. In this case, it would be PPM, or, more properly, their lawyers. 8. How will other interested parties access the testing results? By refusing to allow the tests until we have a written assurance that we will receive complete copies of all test results from all samples, ahead of time. 9. Is the person coming to do the mold testing certified? Probably not. There's nobody offering a certification test and swabbing a sample is so simple anyone can do it with minimal training. 10. Is the company certified? The microbiologists who are doing the analysis are certified. It's possible that PPM is having some third party come in to do the mold sampling and I am OK with that as it takes it out of PPM's hands. 11. Do you have any written materials/disclosure statements that explain the mold testing? Do you have a copy for me to keep? That's TWO questions. No cheating! OK, seriously, question #8 covers #11, pretty much. There are no chemicals involved - they just want to take some scrapings. But it all depends on whether we get a written promise to share all results, from an appointed agent of PPM (IE, Dan Janney), or not.
