That probably requires some amplification. When I slide it to the left, the heater turns on. When I slide it to the right, the heater turns off. But I have not actually seen the thermostat turn the heater on OR off, without human intervention - not ONCE! - in the entire time I have lived here. PPM said some time ago that they were going to replace all the thermostats with modern digital thermostats. Nothing since then. We're still waiting. (If I hadn't raised a ruckus about the mold, we'd still be waiting for the window screens, too.) Regards, ~richard
