A black two-door sports car, 7DXD383, entered the parking lot with 
lights off this morning just before 2 AM and parked in the space for 
apartment 4C.

They sat there for maybe fifteen minutes doing nothing. No movement of 
the car to indicate the people inside were doing anything, either. I 
watched, and waited, to see what they were here for.

Then, they started up their car, and backed right into my van - which 
was parked right where it had been when they had come into the lot 15 
minutes before, and under a bright street light, ten feet away, to boot.

I started up my engine and moved to block them from exiting the parking lot.

They responded by going between two poles of the breezeway, driving 
across the grass between the apartments to the other exit, and leaving 
the premises. They fled for the freeway and the last I saw was their 
tail lights going over the overpass.

I called the police. They came and took a report and photos of the 
damage and the tracks across the lawn.

My analysis is that they were drunk and has just left a bar at closing 
time, near by.
