As of a week or so ago he was accusing everyone in sight of dealing drugs, and going around, copying down license plate numbers (at 7:30 in the morning, mind you). After that, he went out for a few hours, and when he came back - I was smoking out front, at the time, reading - he told me he had a .44 magnum. (This was a followup to a previous encounter when I had been helping him and Gwen go somewhere and had handled his briefcase, noticed how heavy it was, and asked him what he had in there, suggesting, half-jokingly, that he had a .44 magnum. So it wasn't clear to me if he was serious or not.) I want to emphasize that I have NOT seen any sort of firearm in his possession. This is only hearsay. Our conversation then segued into a discussion about this guy he knew, in Sacramento, who had given him a knife - which he showed me - that, he claimed, had been used to kill hundreds of people ... how great the nation of Israel was ... and the merits of Krav Maga as a martial art - among other topics. I pointed out that the knife in question did not have blood gutters or a tang - attributes one would expect in a fighting knife - and suggested it was more likely that the knife in question was a deer-cleaning knife. He accused me of not believing him. (The knife in question had a fixed blade, and a wooden handle, made of a light-colored wood. No sheath. Blade was about five inches long. Sharpened on one side only. Chrome finish. The most distinguishing characteristic would be the presence of four slots on the back of the blade, at the base of the blade, which I think are designed for cutting through wire, IE, fencing. Not a city boy knife.) He was right - I question his integrity. Due diligence works that way. I make no apologies for that. At that point, Alan was still talking to me. A few days ago the apartment manager told me that Alan had claimed that I had been pounding on his door the night before, and that all communications with Alan should go through her. My kids (and presumably the neighbors) can vouch that I did not do this, and nobody has explained why I would do this. I asked her if the cameras that Alan was monitoring had captured any of this. She did not reply to this question. This morning (7/12) Alan texted me: 10:05 Alan Attar: Ha ha you are caught!! Sting sting!! Now you are going to Federal Prison for illegal wiretapping!! I am perplexed. I have no idea what he is talking about. My oldest daughter thought she heard him yelling at himself - something along the lines of "You're going to be on parole for life! 'Oh, no! Who's going to take care of my wife, and kids?!'". We're starting to think he's, ah, a little unstable. And it makes me nervous to know that he's only five or ten feet away from my kids. I'm assuming you already know he was arrested for some minor dustup, in Nevada City, across the state line. Next, he showed up in Sacramento - a hundred miles away, all downhill. Now he's in Humboldt. I did a little research and among other things I found that an Alan Attar was named in a SEC (Securities & Exchange Commission) civil - NOT criminal - action, back in the 1980s, where, basically, someone with the same name was involved in a $500K stock transaction - where, if I read it correctly, this person failed to pony up the $500K to pay for the stock that the trader had ordered for him, and the seller sued the buyer, whom was so unlucky as to be acting as Attar's agent. No proof this is the same guy - but the age is right ... Alan is from New York .. he's not a happy guy ... and his east-to-west movement, and behavior, are perhaps indicative of someone fleeing something. Alan sent me a short email where he outlined his intention to start up some sort of a business here in the Humboldt Bay area acting as agent, selling things on eBay for people in the area. His description of multiple corporations intended to shield him from liability suggests that he expects to be sued and is designing a legal infrastructure intended to protect himself from being held legally liable for the actions of his subordinate corporations. I raise the possibility that he intends to separate old people, so desperate for money that they are selling their personal heirlooms, from their possessions, and systematically under-compensate them for their possessions - all of this being legitimatized by the possession of a business license, issued by the City of Fortuna. I say this because, based on thirty years dealing with dot-com founders, and dozens and dozens of people whom have incorporated themselves - the only people I know who shield themselves this way, are people with criminal intentions. I continue to remain concerned. Looking out for Fortuna, I remain, ~richard 707-725-7995 On 07/03/14 14:19, Richard Childers wrote: > Dear Officer Eberhardt, > > As one of the denizens of 137 12th Street, I have been an > unenthusiastic observer of most of the recent events related to > apartment 4C, where Gwen May and Alan Attar made their residence. > > Alan told me he loved Gwen and wanted to marry her.
