Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Alan, I actually prefer email to texting - I like full sentences, capitalization, punctuation, etc. I just picked up my phone to see if I'd missed any commuiques, and saw that you had texted me this morning, probably when I was busy barking orders at everyone (else) to brush their teeth, comb their hair, finish their breakfast, etc. My apologies for not responding sooner. Some of the content of your texts was lost - as if a few letters or words were lost between each text - but the gist is clear, and, yes, I agree, the process of dying can involve a lot of angst. I don't have a lot of practical experience with dying people, before the big event. But I do know there is a huge body of knowledge related to dealing, practically, with the process of death, collected these past few hundred years, by people in both the Eastern and the Western hemispheres: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_anxiety_(psychology) Probably the most useful thing to study would be the stages of grief: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stages_of_grief Note that the fife stages of grief apply to everyone, even the one whom is dying - "The five stages are denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance." - and so, according to this model, Gwen is at stage 2. What sort of cancer therapy is she undertaking? I did some research and, YES, breast cancer is one of the cancers treated by CBD therapy. Why isn't she consuming 5 mg of CBD daily? I'd think it would be easy to acquire, especially if one has a family member in the business - as she has suggested, previously. Perhaps there is some way to channel that anger into something more constructive than verbal and physical abuse. Painting? Writing? If you could secure a source for medicated brownies, perhaps that would address both therapeutic issues and impose a degree of tranquility as well - er, uh, so I have heard, that is - just thinking outside the box, here. Keep me posted - I generally respond fairly quickly to email from people I know, at least, when it is about topics that don't distress me, personally. If there is not a professional organization, locally, that helps people deal with preparing to die - from cancer, or whatever - there should be. Maybe we should start one. There are a lot of elderly people in Humboldt County. Regards, ~richard
