These materials were originally prepared for and delivered to Andrew Stunich as a standalone DVD; but he wasn't interested in the case any longer. Now they are in the hands of the California Department of Justice and Humboldt County District Attorney's office.
Explanatory note:
Andrew Stunich executed an agreement to represent us ... but there is no evidence that he ever attempted to contact us after he received the DVD containing ~800 megabytes of carefully indexed evidence, prepared for a civil lawsuit against the owners of 137 12th Street.
Although Andrew Stunich accepted this case on a pro bono basis, he never followed through on his commitment to represent us. He did not file any motions. He did not communicate with us. Based on information and belief, he discarded or destroyed the evidence we left in his possession without consulting with us. He has not replied to certified mail.
We think it is technically correct to say that Andrew Stunich actually abandoned us - myself, my wife, and my four daughters - after he learned that our oldest daughter had been taken by Humboldt County Child Welfare Services (see JV160250), and that the county was seeking to confiscate our other three daughters (see JV160275).
Our family was awash in pain from losing our daughter and our sister and being targeted with senseless and baseless accusations and threatened with more senseless, retaliatory kidnappings ... but, we answered our phone, and we had an answering machine, and electronic mail addresses, and physical addresses, and the same PO box we had had for the past ten years. Our children still went to the same schools.
Humboldt County Superior Court, Humboldt County Department of Health and Human Services, and Humboldt County Child Welfare Services had no trouble finding us.
In our opinion, there are no good explanations for Mr Stunich's professional lapse. Only bad ones.
As it later turned out, this medically inspired kidnapping of our oldest daughter, a Humboldt County spelling bee champion who had come in third in the state (see JV160250), and attempted kidnapping of our other three daughters (see JV160275), one of them the Fortuna Middle School class president, seems to have been inspired by an urge on the part of various anonymous cowards to strike a retaliatory and cowardly blow at an adult, through their children.
An honest and competent lawyer might have been useful. There appear to be few or none left in the county. Pity, eh?
We cannot personally, in good faith, recommend Andrew Stunich as legal counsel. We hear he preaches a mean sermon, though.
We cannot, personally, in good faith, recommend Fortuna, or Humboldt County, as a safe place to raise children, or, indeed, as a safe place to live, or retire - not unless you enjoy seeing your tires slashed, your windows smashed, and you and your family members threatened, even poisoned with fentanyl ... all this, while the police pretend you are the problem.
