(Editor's note: We are proud to point out that Karen Paz-Dominguez' name is not on the list of signatories. This does not mean that Karen Paz-Dominguez is not a feminist. After all, she is the controller-auditor for the county. It looks to us like Karen Paz-Dominguez is post-feminist; she is a professional woman, who went to college. She has done everything that feminists set out to do. Why don't all these feminists support Karen Paz-Dominguez, the way they oppose Brett Watson?)
In a few minutes, the Arcata City Council will decide what sort of disciplinary measures to impose on former mayor Brett Watson, whom a city investigation found committed sustained acts of sexual harassment against a female city employee. Watson continues to serve on the Arcata City Council.
(Editor's note: the problem with all these "he-said, she-said" accusations is the total lack of physical evidence. It is not possible to prove that something did not happen. Lawyers know this. So do womens' groups. To the degree that such people rely upon such tricks to game the system against their intended victims while insisting that the process is free of bias, such people are crooks, liars, and thieves - stealing social credit that does not belong to them, mostly, from men - and everyone knows it.)
(The creation of the entire body of law justifying and rationalizing evidence-free, hearsay-based domestic violence restraining orders, in special "family" courts, without even the protection of a jury, where the standards of evidence are lower or non-existent and free legal representation is only provided to the plaintiff ... used, to manufacture civil-law restraining orders with criminal-law consequences - mostly against men - which are then employed to to inflate statistics, cultivate gender prejudice, and produce sound bites to help get candidates elected to office, does not represent a step forward for most women, whom share their men's burdens, so much as it represents a new source of revenue for lawyers ... which most politicians are, if you haven't noticed ... and a constantly growing source of revenue for woman-only feminist recruiting centers - where these tactics are aggressively promoted, at taxpayer expense, with posters and weekly restraining order clinics, coast to coast.)
(These are the primary beneficiaries of the VAWA laws - lawyers, and feminist extremists. This is not the majority of American women we are talking about, here - in fact, it is a very small but very aggressive, very vocal, attention-demanding sliver of the population that insists upon this McCarthyist witch-hunt against men.)
(Why are we even letting such people drive? It is obvious they cannot navigate. They just want to hurt men and take their money. To most of them, the law is a game. They just want to win. They don't care about parity, or symmetry, or fairness. They want power, and control. They are "large and in charge" - we know this because they tell us this, loudly.)
(For these and many other reasons, public policy should not be based upon hurt feelings that no one can see. It just encourages everyone to act like a victim - or worse.)
According to a staff report published in advance of tonight's special meeting on the topic, it seems that at minimum the city will seek a restraining order against Watson, limiting his access to City Hall and to staff. But the city cannot fire Watson, as he is an elected member of the council.
In advance of tonight's meeting, over 50 local women, many of them in leadership positions around the county, are calling upon Watson to resign. They have signed the following letter, which they have shared with the Outpost.
(Ed: We would like to see these fifty man-hatin', prejudice-spewin' feminists audited to evaluate their fitness to represent the rest of us, and to pass judgement upon normal heterosexual relationships, without our assistance. How many of these womyn are in active relationships with men? If they are emotionally or intellectually incapable of maintaining a healthy relationship with a member of the opposite gender then their fitness to pass judgement is suspect, to put it mildly.)
The Arcata City Council meets at 6 p.m. tonight at Arcata City Hall. You can view the meeting via the meeting page on the City of Arcata's website. To participate via Zoom, click this link.
Here is a summary of the city's investigation into Watson's behavior. Here is his defense. Here is a rundown of possible actions the city may take tonight.
Here is the open letter:
May 17, 2022
Brett Watson,
We are women leaders who live in, work in, care about, and/or frequent Arcata. We are daughters, mothers, business owners, elected officials, and so much more. We have read the report and have been talking in private circles about the report and the responses to it. We are here to share.
Most of us have known a "Brett Watson" in our lives - a man who took liberties while passing the blame on to the victims of his harassment. Most of us have experienced or witnessed the victim of harassment being left to defend themselves, or only supported by whisper networks. We are done accepting men like you that treat this behavior as the norm.
(Ed: We don't think it's fair to project your personal problems with other people onto this man without evidence. That is called projecting. It is a gateway behavior to mental illness, which is a major problem here in Humboldt County. And linking gender to conflict is naked bigotry. By our count nearly 20% of these fifty womyn are in the healthcare industry, and probably another 20% are in education. This 40% should heal and educate itself. The other 60% are homebodies. Some 'leaders'. All fifty are in need of cognitive therapy, if we are any judge.)
We know that leadership is not just about power for ourselves. We have responsibilities to ourselves, each other, and the community to use our platforms for the greater good. As such, we stand together in this letter to make a demand:
You must resign.
We know you probably will ignore this and the countless other calls for your resignation. But this moment isn't just about you. We want the young people in our community to see that we expect more from leadership. We want them to know that we will stand with them when they meet a "Brett Watson" in their lives - and hopefully they will know who among us to come to for help.
(Ed: Again, we don't think it's fair to project your personal problems with other people onto this man without evidence. Your 'us versus them' psychology is not very reassuring, either. Is that all you got? Invoking one-sided negative emotions from past failed relationships with anonymous strangers? That's weak. We have an alternative suggestion: maybe you should resign. You are no leaders. You are a lynch mob.)
Local youth have bravely spoken out this year about sexual assault, harrassment, and other forms of sexualized violence. They know the world is often tolerant of abuses of power from people with platforms, and worry the adults of the world will not do enough to make it safer for the next generation of leaders. The youth of Arcata and the surrounding communities deserve leadership that values the safety and belonging of everyone in our community, regardless of power.
(Ed: Just don't let those brave local youth go starting up their own websites where they can say anything supporting white power, or opposing feminism, Israel or Jewish power, LOL. But let us not get distracted by that lovely topic.)
For the safety of current and future colleagues - especially women and girls - and to model for others what taking responsibility for your actions looks like, we demand that you resign from your position on City Council.
(Ed: If you have a criminal allegation to make, file it and send us a copy. Until then, we ask that you kindly quit polluting the atmosphere with your unsubstantiated allegations, mm'kay? FUD is so 20th Century. Can't you come up with anything that's better than that? We're not just speaking for men, here. We think a healthy percentage of the western United States' population are sick of you folks. Put a sock in it! Go bake some cookies for your grand-children - if you have any.)

Editor's note: Making false accusations and playing the victim have been the two fastest ways for incompetent women to get promoted above their pay grade for going on thirty years, now. Competent women, of course, don't need to resort to such chicaneries.
It's not clear where new mayors come from. I don't think any of these womyn have given this any thought. Can you imagine the furor if Brett Watson had been caught inviting an HSU coed out to dinner? Then, they would have been calling him a child molester. There is no winning with these people.
The reason these women want former Mayor Watson to resign is because they want to steal his thunder; also, because if he does not resign, they will eventually look foolish, and hysterical, and people will begin to see them as the aging, inflexible and obsolete, baggage-toting extremists and drama queens that they are.
We encourage Brett Watson to stand strong in the face of this undignified mobbing and bullying. His accusers have betrayed their lack of fitness, via their contempt for due process and their perversions of the rule of law. History will be the ultimate judge.
